It seems we’ve finally crept into Fall with some cooler weather here in Virginia, where I’m currently holding up and have returned to my alma mater, the Governor’s School for the Arts to do some teaching. It’s been such a gift to contribute to a program that has done so much for me.
One exciting development is the start up of a brand new jazz series that will take place monthly in Miner Music Hall at the Governor’s School in Norfolk, Virginia. My hope is to highlight some of the truly amazing local talent here and give the students in the program a chance to see live music performed up close and personal.
We’ll be kicking things off on October 26th with a great group featuring Jeff Smith on saxophone, Joe Bussey on bass, Billy Williams on drums, and me on piano. Admission is free, but any donation made towards the program is welcome and appreciated.

In other news, I’m excited to be heading out to Mexico next week for the U.S. Department of State (Embajada Estas Unidos en Mexico) to do some playing and teaching. I’ll be joined by great friends and musicians Evan Gregor on bass and Jimmy McBride on drums. Details are below.
Thanks so much for your support and hope to see you soon.
