I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Beverly Kidd from WTKR. We discussed my journey as a jazz musician and my experiences with some incredible Grammy greats. It was a conversation that reminded me of the amazing people I've met along the way.

The Beauty of Jazz

Jazz is more than just music; it's an experience. It's a feeling that resonates deep within us. When I play, I aim to connect with my audience on a personal level. Each note tells a story, and I hope to share that story with everyone who listens.

Memories with the Legends

Reflecting on my time with legends like Quincy Jones and Clark Terry seems unreal, and during those times, I had to pinch myself. These moments were not just about music; they were about learning and growing. Each interaction taught me something valuable.

Clark (Cee Tee) taught me the importance of mentorship. He always emphasized giving back to the community. That’s something I strive to do through my own initiatives. I believe in inspiring the next generation of musicians.

The Role of Community in Jazz

Community plays a crucial role in jazz. It's where we find our roots and grow. I love engaging with aspiring musicians and sharing my experiences. Whether it’s through workshops or informal jam sessions, I cherish these moments. They remind me of my beginnings and the support I received.

Jazz is a collaborative art form. It thrives on interaction. When we play together, we create something beautiful. That’s the essence of jazz.

My Musical Philosophy

As a jazz pianist, composer, and producer, my philosophy revolves around authenticity. I aim to stay true to my musical voice while also experimenting with new sounds. It’s a delicate balance, but one that keeps my music fresh and exciting.

Looking Ahead

As I continue my journey, I’m excited about what lies ahead. I hope to reach a global audience with my music. My goal is to inspire and educate through mentorship and community initiatives. Jazz is a living, breathing art form, and I want to be a part of its evolution.

In closing, I want to express my gratitude once again to Beverly Kidd for the opportunity to share my story. It’s moments like these that remind me of the power of music and the connections we forge through it.
